Recovery In Paradise PV opened its doors in January 2021 by a Canadian couple who retired here from Vancouver Canada.
John and Nancy Martin had been visiting Puerto Vallarta for years prior to making this move and were attracted to the vibrant 12step community of expats living here.
The Martins quickly immersed themselves in the available fellowships and started volunteering in some of the existing Spanish speaking treatment centers when they realized that there were several men and women in these facilities who were looking for help, but didn’t speak the language. Which meant they were missing the recovery message all together!
This ignited a vision to fill this void and open up an English speaking substance abuse treatment center. They found a beautiful villa with a great big yard, lots of tropical fruit bearing trees and of course a pool. Then the team was put together which includes a full English speaking staff of Recovery Coaches, A Licensed Doctor, Psychiatrist, Yoga Instructor and a Board of Directors.
In the middle of the global pandemic Recovery In Paradise PV pushed forward and had its first guests arrive in January to participate in a 90 day inpatient substance abuse treatment program.
Some of their guests fly in from other parts of the world to learn how to live a clean and sober life while others are expats already residing in Mexico.
Every Sunday they hold an outdoor 12step meeting that is open for others to participate in and check out the facility.
